What Are Spedra Tablets?

Spedra tablets are one of the newest treatments for erectile dysfunction (ED) in men and contain the active ingredient Avanafil. It is also known as Stendra in the US.

How to order Spedra

You can use our online prescription service to buy Spedra online in the UK. We are a regulated GPhC registered pharmacy based in the UK. Any website that claims to sell Spedra tablets without a prescription is operating illegally and you could be purchasing counterfeit / fake tablets.
Upon completion of your order, our independent prescriber will then review your online assessment. If your assessment is approved, our pharmacy team will then receive a prescription and dispense your order, which will be dispatched the same day using your chosen delivery method.

How it works

Spedra contains the active ingredient Avanafil which like other ED treatments is a PDE-5 inhibitor. It works by blocking phosphodiesterase type-5 which helps to relax and widen the blood vessels to the penis. This allows an increase in blood flow to the penis, making it easier to maintain an erection when sexually aroused.

How to take Spedra

Spedra is usually taken approximately 15 – 30 minutes before sexual activity. It usually has a starting dose of 100mg, which can then be adjusted according to response. If you find 100mg aren't producing enough of an effect, the dose can be increased up to 200mg.
Spedra can work within 15minutes which provides more spontaneity than Sildenafil which needs an hour to work, however it should be taken on an empty stomach as the onset of action may be delayed by food. Once taken it is effective up to 5 hours. Do not take more than one dose of Spedra in 24 hours or more often than prescribed. Do not combine it with another ED medicine or switch treatments without advice from your prescriber.
If this medication doesn't work the first time it is best to keep trying before moving up in dose or switching medication.
Do not drink grapefruit juice with Spedra as it can interfere with the way the medicine works.

Spedra Alternatives

If you find Spedra is not working for you, there are other treatments available such as Sildenafil, Tadalafil, Cialis, Vardenafil, Viagra or Levitra.

Is Spedra right for me?

Spedra can be a useful option if a relatively quick onset suits you. It may start working in around 15-30 minutes, although food can delay its effect. Sildenafil and other ED medicines can also be effective; results vary from person to person, and percentages from separate trials cannot tell you which will work best for you. Your prescriber can help you choose based on your health, other medicines and previous response.

Who should check before using Spedra?

Spedra is for adult men with ED. Do not take it with nitrates, recreational nitrites (poppers), riociguat or strong interacting medicines such as ritonavir, clarithromycin, ketoconazole or itraconazole. Tell your prescriber about all medicines you use.

It must not be used after certain recent heart or circulation problems, with unstable angina, severely abnormal blood pressure, severe liver or kidney disease, or previous vision loss due to NAION. Your prescriber must assess whether sexual activity and treatment are suitable. Some other medicines require a lower dose or a longer interval between doses.

Spedra side effects

As with any medication you take, there is a possibility of side effects occurring. The most common side effects of Spedra include headaches, flushing, nasal complaints (stuffy or runny nose), nausea, vomiting or diarrhoea. If you would like to see a full list of side effects please refer to the SPC below or look in the patient information leaflet.

Stop taking Spedra and get medical help immediately for an erection lasting more than four hours or a sudden loss or marked change in vision or hearing. Call 999 for chest pain or signs of a severe allergic reaction, such as swelling of the lips, tongue or throat or difficulty breathing. Do not use nitrates for chest pain after taking Spedra; tell the emergency team which ED medicine you took and when.
