Cystitis is inflammetion of the bladder. It is usually caused by a bacterial infection and is the most common type of urinary tract infection (UIT). It is more common in women, with 10 out of 100 women affected by cystitis at least once a year. Symptoms include pain when urinating, cloudy urine, urinating blood and a persistent need to urinate. They can often get better by themselves but sometimes may required treatment with antibiotics.
