How it works
The mechanism of Minoxidil for hair loss is not fully understood but it is thought to promote hair regrowth in 4 ways. It reverses the miniaturisation of follicles, increases the blood supply and nutrients to the follicles, stimulates follicle movement to growth phase and also extends the follicles growth phase.
Regaine is best used when the hair has just begun thinning but results can also be seen in those whose hairline has begun receding.
There may be a temporary in hair loss in the first few weeks of using Regaine as the old hairs fall out making way for newer active growth hairs.
How to use Regaine
Regaine is for external use on the scalp only.
Press the nozzle to dispense 1ml of solution and apply the solution to the affected areas. Repeat this 12 hours after applying the first dose for maximum benefit. Do not apply it more than twice in one day or apply more than 1ml per application. Allow it to dry on the scalp and do not wash the treatment off as it designed to be left on to absorb. Wash your hands before and after using Regaine.
It may take 8 weeks of continuos twice daily applications before results are seen. If it does work it will need to be continuously used as it is not a cure and the effects will wear off on discontinuation of treatment.
Regaine side effects
As with any medication you take, there is a possibility of side effects occurring. The most common side effects are:
- Dry, itchy scalp
- Redness or irritation on the scalp
- Flaking or dandruff
- Swelling of the face or hands
- Chest pain or rapid heartbeat
- Dizziness or lightheadedness
- Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
- Fainting
Avoid inhaling or swallowing any of the product as it may worsen cardiac side effects.
