Cystitis relief sachets contain sodium citrate which helps provide relief from cystitis related symptoms. They can provide relief in as little as 2 days providing relief from the stinging and irritation caused by cystitis.
These are safe to use by most woman, other than those who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

How Cystitis relief sachets work
Sodium citrate helps neutralize the acidity of your urine and thus provide relief from the burning sensation when urinating.
If your symptoms persist for longer than a few days contact your doctor or pharmacist as you may need a course of antibiotics.
How to use Cystitis sachets
Simply mix the contents of one sachet with 200ml of water and drink up to three times a day. You can take these sachets for a total of 2 days if you find your symptoms haven't got any better or have got worse contact your doctor or pharmacist for advice. As well as using the sachets you should drink plenty of water throughout the day.
Cystitis symptoms
The main symptoms of cystitis include:
- Pain, stinging or burning when you urinate (pee)
- Having the urge to urinate more often than normal
- Feeling like you can't fully empty your bladder
- Pain in your lower abdomen
- Generally feel unwell, achy and tired
Cystitis in adults does not usually cause a fever. If you have temperature that is above 38°C, or pain in your lower back contact your doctor as you may have a kindey infection.
Who cannot take Cystitis relief sachets
They are generally safe for anyone to take, however speak to your doctor if any of the following apply to you:
- You are allergic to Sodium citrate
- You have a history of heart problems
- Your urine (pee) is dark, cloudy or has blood in it
- You have heavy vaginal discharge
- You have stomach, groin or back pain
- You have a temperature
- You are a man with the symptoms of cystitis
- You have a history of kidney disease
Cystitis symptom relief
Some ways to help relieve the symptoms of a Cystitis include:
- Drink plenty of fluids to help flush out bacteria from the urinary tract
- Don't fight the urge to urinate (pee), go to the toilet if you get the urge to urinate
- Take over the counter medicines such as paracetamol and ibuprofen
- Apply a heat pad or warm compreess to your lower belly to help relax the muscles in the urinary tract

They are not recommended to be taken if you are pregnant. Contact your GP for further advice on what to take while you are pregnant.

Cystitis relief sachets side effects
Side effects are very rare with Cystitis relief sachets, the only side effect you may experience is needing to urinate more often, if you experience anything unexpected, contact a pharmacist or doctor.

This medication has only a couple of interactions to look out for:
- Methenamine
- Sucralfate

How do I use Cystitis sachets?

What should I do if I miss a dose of Trimethoprim?
If you have missed a dose take it as soon as you remmeber unless it is time to take your next dose. If it is time for your next dose skip the missed dose.
