How to use Voltarol 12 Hour Gel
For adults and adolescents aged 14 and over, apply 2–4 g (about a one-penny to two-pence-sized amount) to the painful area twice daily, preferably morning and evening. Use the smallest amount that helps, with a maximum of 8 g daily and 56 g in a week.
Rub in gently. Wipe your hands with a tissue then wash them, unless they are the area being treated. Do not use for more than 21 days without a doctor’s advice. Seek advice if not improving within seven days or if symptoms worsen; adolescents need advice if treatment is needed beyond seven days.
Who cannot use Voltarol Gel
Voltarol Gel is generally safe for most people, but it may not be suitable for everyone. Avoid using Voltarol Gel if you:
- Do not use if you are allergic to diclofenac, aspirin, ibuprofen, another NSAID or an ingredient.
- Do not apply to broken skin, eczema, a rash or wounds.
- Do not use during the last three months of pregnancy.
