Otex Express Ear Drops
What are Otex Express ear drops?
Otex Express ear drops are drops that can be used to help remove earwax build-up. The active ingredient is Urea Hydrogen Peroxide that breaks down earwax, making it easier to remove, it works by releasing oxygen when it comes into contact with earwax, breaking it down and softening it, the glycerol also softens any hardened wax so it can fall naturally out of the ear.
How the drops work
They work in two ways by reacting with the moisture in the ear wax and releasing oxygen, this helps break up any impactaced wax inside the ear. The glycerol inside the drops also helps soften the wax. This can provide relief from symptoms of ear wax build-up such as reduced hearing, ear ache and ringing in the ears.
How to use Otex Express ear drops
Using the ear drops is simple and straightfoward:
- If the drops feel too cold, you can warm them up by placing the bottle in warm water for a few minutes, then test the drop's temperature on your wrist to ensure it is not too hot.
- Lie on your side with the affected ear facing up. This helps the drops to stay in the ear and penetrate the wax.
- Place a towel under your head to catch any drips.
- Gently pull the outer ear back and up to straighten the ear canal. Carefully place 3-4 drops of into the ear canal.
- Gently massage the area in front of the ear to help the drops penetrate the earwax.
- Remain lying on your side for about 5-10 minutes to allow the drops to penetrate and soften the earwax. Wipe away any surplus with a tissue.
- Do this once or twice a day for a few days until the earwax softens and can be naturally expelled or easily removed.
Side effects
There are no known side effects however a temporary bubbling sensation in the ear may sometimes occur as the oxygen reacts with the earwax. The symptoms of ear wax build-up may also worsen as the drops loosen the earwax.
