How to use Calpol Infant
This suspension contains 120mg paracetamol per 5ml. Shake the bottle for at least ten seconds and measure doses with the supplied syringe. The table below covers pain and fever other than the separate post-vaccination schedule:
| Age | Dose |
|---|---|
| Below 2 months | Not suitable for use, please contact your doctor for treatment. |
| 2 - 3 months | 2.5ml - If necessary, after 4-6 hours, give a second dose |
| 3 - 6 months | 2.5ml up to 4 times a day |
| 6 - 24 months | 5ml up to 4 times a day |
| 2 - 4 years | 7.5ml (5ml + 2.5ml) up to 4 times a day |
| 4 - 6 years | 10ml (5ml + 5ml) up to 4 times a day |
Ages 2–3 months, other pain or fever: give 2.5ml only if your baby weighs over 4kg and was born after 37 weeks. A second 2.5ml dose may be given after four to six hours if needed. Give no more than two doses; seek advice if still feverish afterwards.
Ages 3 months to 6 years: follow the age row, with at least four hours between doses and no more than four doses in 24 hours. Do not treat for more than three days without advice.
Do not give with any other medicine containing paracetamol. If too much is taken, get medical advice immediately, even if the child seems well: serious liver damage can be delayed. Take the bottle or pack with you.
Post-vaccination fever in babies aged 2–4 months: give 2.5ml, leaving at least four hours between doses. Do not give more than four doses in 24 hours. If fever continues two days after vaccination, speak to a doctor or pharmacist. Follow any specific advice given by the vaccination team.
